The Columbia Club of Southwest Florida cordially invites members of the Ivy community to a distinguished luncheon featuring Garud N. Iyengar, Avanessians Director of the Columbia Data Science Institute at Columbia University.

Dr. Iyengar will explore the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence through a Columbia lens—highlighting how interdisciplinary scholarship is shaping the future of AI across medicine, law, cybersecurity, journalism, engineering, and public policy.

As the central hub for data science at Columbia, the Data Science Institute connects more than 400 faculty and researchers across the University to advance collaborative, data-driven discovery. Under Dr. Iyengar’s leadership, the Institute plays a pivotal role in guiding Columbia’s AI strategy and innovation initiatives.

A professor of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Columbia Engineering, Dr. Iyengar’s research spans machine learning, optimization, and control, with current applications in power systems, supply chains, causal inference, large-scale game theory, and cellular modeling. He has authored more than 90 scholarly publications, holds two patents, served as an Amazon Scholar (2019–2024), and is an elected Fellow of INFORMS.

This All-Ivy gathering offers a unique opportunity for alumni and guests to engage with one of Columbia’s leading voices in artificial intelligence while enjoying collegial conversation in an elegant setting.
