Hosted by the Yale Club of the Suncoast
Tuesday, November 10, 2026 | 7:00–8:00 PM EST
Sixteen consecutive wins. Two legendary players. One unforgettable chapter in Yale football history.
Join the Yale Club of Southwest Florida for a fascinating evening with author Reg Lansberry as he discusses his book, Blue Power: Brian Dowling, Calvin Hill, and Football Greatness at Yale.
Against the backdrop of a changing America in the late 1960s, Yale football brought students, faculty, and alumni together behind a remarkable championship team. Led by quarterback Brian Dowling and halfback Calvin Hill, the Bulldogs captured the nation's attention with a 16-game winning streak spanning 1967–1968.
The story builds to the legendary 1968 Harvard-Yale game, when two undefeated teams met at Harvard Stadium in a contest that would become one of the most memorable moments in college football history: the infamous 29–29 tie.
Reg will be joined by Bob Sokolowski '69, a member of that championship team. The conversation will be moderated by Frank Castiglione '75 and Tom Doyle '75, quarterback of Yale's 1974 Ivy League championship team.
Whether you remember those games firsthand or enjoy a great story about Yale history, football, and the people who made it memorable, this promises to be an engaging evening.
